MUSCLE TONE

Hello friends. Today we are going to discuss about the " MUSCLE TONE".

I have made videos in English and Tamil. keep supporting.

                   MUSCLE TONE:

Even when the muscle is at rest certain amount of contraction usually remain. This residual amount of contraction is called as muscle tone.

Muscle Tone is  the tension in the muscle when the body is at rest.

Powerful contractions involve a larger proportion of available fibers than weaker ones;

To lift a heavy weight, more active muscle fibers are required than to lift a lighter one.

Neuromotor pathway:

Muscle tone doesn’t produce any active movements.

It keeps the muscle firm, healthy and ready to respond to the stimulation.

Signals received in neuro muscular junction cause in continuous muscle contraction. Skeletal muscles are completely relaxed or flaccid even if a muscle is not producing movement, it is contracted a small amount to maintain its contractile proteins and produce muscle tone.

Muscle tone is formed by the interaction between the nervous system and skeletal muscles that result in the activation of few motor units.

It may happen due to the nerve impulse from the spinal cord or the brain or it may be due to the nerve fiber of the muscle fiber itself.

It is the muscle’s  response to an outside force , such as stretch or the change in direction.

Appropriate muscle tone enables our bodies to quickly respond to stretch.

It helps us to maintain posture , positioning , control movements and it is fundamental to the development of motor skills, balance and coordination.

It helps to maintain posture and declines during REM Sleep.

Muscle tone  is a sustained or partial muscle contraction that allows posture to be maintained without fatiguing the muscles involved.

For example keeping the head upright requires constant activity of the muscles of the neck and shoulders.

Groups of muscle fibers within these muscles take it in turns to contract,

so that at any one time, some fibers are contracted and others are resting.

This allows certain effort  to hold the head upright to be distributed throughout the muscles involved.

A Good muscle tone protects the joints and gives the  muscle a firmness and shape, even when the body is relaxed.

Causes OF ABNORMAL MUSCLE TONE:

CHILDREN

 Down syndrome

Muscular dystrophy

Cerebral palsy

Etc…

Adults

CVA

Myasthenia gravis

Brain tumour.

Etc…..

3 categories of muscle tone:

HYPOTONIA = low muscle tone { high elasticity} floppy.

NORMAL muscle tone { appropriate elasticity}. It helps to maintain the posture.

HYPERTONIA= High muscle tone { less elasticity} stiff legs.

Hypotonia can result from damage to the parts of the CNS such as the cerebellum.

Excessive muscle tone Hypertonia accompanied by hyperflexia { excessive reflex response} often result from the damage to upper motor neurons in the CNS. Hypertonia can present with muscle rigidity as seen in Parkinson’s disease or spasticity .

These are the slides which i have used in the video:

INTRODUCTION TO ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY

It gives me immense pleasure to share my thoughts and views on nursing, so that it would be helpful for you all to understand the concepts of nursing in an easier way. I have done this based on the INC syllabus for I year BSc nursing. In future we will discuss regarding the consecutive years.            I'm also running an YouTube Channel named "Nursing Abstract" in both English and Tamil with the slides which I'm posting here. Which would be helpful for the students to understand the topics better. For brief content about the topics you can refer and add on to the notes. I'm giving the link of the YouTube channel you can refer for an explanation on these slides:   https://youtube.com/channel/UCZrabu-CtMa5AEexu1j2GNw                         Today we are discussing about the main gist of anatomy & physiology. I have been using the book "Ross & Wilson" from my I  year .I have used the book and internet for my reference. If you have an

INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN CELL

HUMAN CELL:                              This my second topic in which I'm describing about Human Cell. This is just a basic introduction and if you want you can  add up to this . I'm just posting slides and the brief explanation of these slides are being discussed in both Tamil and English in my YouTube channel "Nursing Abstract". You can watch out for more videos and post in upcoming days. If you have any queries and suggestions kindly post in the comments section below. m y YouTube channel link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZrabu-CtMa5AEexu1j2GNw My Tamil video link:         https://youtu.be/Rmz8c7B9tbw My English video link:      https://youtu.be/iW0hBbRGMas INTRODUCTION: Cell is the body’s smallest functional unit. Cells are grouped together to form tissues (example :blood ,muscle ,bone etc..). Different tissues are grouped together to form organs (example : eyes ,stomach etc…) Organs are grouped together to form systems (example: digestive system etc..) ZY

THE CELL CYCLE

HUMAN CELL CYCLE:                         This our third topic and today we are going to discuss about cell cycle. As we have discussed in our earlier topics about cell, organelles of cell . In this topic we are going discuss how the cells divide ,process of division etc. By using these slides I'm doing an brief explanation video in Tamil and English. My YouTube channel is "Nursing Abstract". You can share your doubts and suggestions in the comment section below . Cells with nuclei have 46 chromosomes and divide by MITOSIS, the process that result in two new genetically identical daughter cells. The only exce
